I have been greatly influenced by the remarkable psychiatrist Milton Erickson (1901-1980), through studying his own work and through the work of other therapists who worked with him. Fundamental to his approach was recognizing the strengths and capacities of patients, connecting with them as unique individuals, and developing a specific therapy approach for each person. I have indeed learned to appreciate our uniqueness, but also how we are very alike in our human condition, both in our frailty and in our amazing inner strengths and resiliency. This has led me to study a variety of modern approaches. In pursuing goals with clients, my approach is experiential and integrative, using techniques and approaches learned from constant study and experience in seeking growth and transformation in clients and personally.
